Lewis Lee Hensley has been on the DGGs’ radar for some time now. With a sound and vibe reminiscent of Justin Timberlake, he has the talent and ability to become one of Michigan’s biggest success stories!
Over the weekend, Uneek Collection (www.uneekcollection.com) presented hundreds of guests with an event like no other. The premiere of Lewis’ music video, “Out of Control,” held up to its name. Detroit’s elite, fans of Lewis, and local celebrities graced the red carpet (hosted by yours truly) at the Emagine Theater in Novi. After the star studded carpet, we entered a state-of-the art screening room. I also had the honor of hosting the entire show!
As the lights dimmed and the crowd roared with excitement, I knew the night was going to be an unforgettable one, beginning with a performance by one of my closest friends, Brilliance. He’s a rapper that takes the art form to another level with live instruments and a stage presence beyond belief! Brill is currently signed to (Grammy award winning) Jeff Bass Music and recently opened for the Detroit Music Awards. www.iambrill.com
Following Brill’s performance was another Michigan-Made musical act. Infinity Hour, a pop and punk rock band of teenagers, completely blew me away! The lead singer, 14 year-old Gina has the pipes of Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Fefe Dobson combined…a true star in the making. The entire band is filled to the brim with talent, and I guarantee you will hear much more from these up-and-comers!
Slowing things down a bit, we heard from crooner Naythan, who is also featured in the “Out of Control” Video. I loved Naythan’s smooth sounds and the fact that when I asked him to sing a little acapella for the ladies, he knocked it out of the park, and made me feel so special by grabbing my hand and singing to me!
A final surprise included a fashion show by Uneek Collection and a performance by Universal Republic artist and Detroit native, K’Jon! www.k-jon.com
Everyone in the room had a purpose. In some way shape or form, they support Lewis Lee Hensley, and this was his night, his time. Taking the stage like a pro, the humble Lewis thanked everyone for coming out and performed for us before premiering the video. There was a moment when the energy level was so high and his appreciation was so strong, we all shared in his realization of a dream manifesting.
The video was phenomenal, the performances were flawless, and I am honored to say I had any part in this UNEEK affair.
A special thank you to Robert and the entire UNEEK team for inviting CW50’s Detroit’s Gossip Girls!
This event was definitely DGG APPROVED!
